The area of Turiysk district makes 1206 square kilometers, the population - is close to 28,5 thousands. The area is located in the central part of the Volynsk region, has a railway communication with Kiev and Lviv, its territory is crossed by highways of Kiev - Kovel - Stateborder, Lviv - Volodymyr-Volynsky - Lyuboml - Brest, Lviv - Volodymyr-Volynsky - Kovel - Brest, railway of Kiev - Kovel - Yagodin, Kovel - Volodymyr-Volynsky - Lviv.

In general structure of economy the agriculture prevails which specializes on cultivation of grain plants, sugar beets, flax, potatoes. The advanced meat - diary animal industries. After the first stage of reforming AIC on the basis of former collective farms are formed 36 agrofirms of different patterns of ownership.
